Background: “Will” is a Hero workout created to honor Trooper William Moden of the Colorado State Patrol, who died in the line of duty on June 14, 2019.
At the time of his death, Trooper Moden was assisting at the scene of a motor vehicle crash on I-70 in Deer Trail, Colorado, when he was struck by a passing vehicle.
We first found “Will” posted on the Instagram of Natalie Sankey, @nsankey11, and after reaching out to Natalie she told us that Trooper Moden was a close friend. After his passing her, and her husband, Eric wanted to honor his memory with a workout.
To create “Will”, Eric chose movements that represented “who [Trooper Moden] was as a person” and weights that would make the workout challenging with the given reps. Despite Eric not being a coach, his tribute was widely adopted by the functional fitness community. According to Natalie, “Will” really took off when she shared it with her online gym Street Parking @streetparking. As Natalie told us, the Street Parking community came out strong and “Will” spread quickly.
Eric originally designed this workout with Rx weights of 135 lb for men, 115 lb for women but the version we show here uses typical scaling for men’s/women’s weights: 135/95 lb.
